WELCOME TO YOUR LIBRARY

As we welcome many newcomers to Grangeville Christian Church, it is timely to let you know - and to remind long standing attendees - of a wonderful resource on the lower level of our church building: A "full spectrum" library!

While the bulk of the material is Christian fiction, we have an ever growing nonfiction selection to educate and encourage men, women, teens and children in all facets of our Christian walk. The mission of the library committee is to provide a worry-free environment for the selection of movie classics as well: you'll find the "Chronicles of Narnia," "Facing the Giants," and old favorites like: "My Fair Lady," "Babe," and all the "Veggie Tales." We also carry several nonfiction series on or about the BIBLE, creation, evolution, etc.

Inside the library's entry door is a table displaying newer titles, both fiction and nonfiction. You'll also see a box marked "returns." Please use that box or the return box inside the church office to return any titles. Please do not re-shelve your returned books. The library staff will take care of that for you!

Want to borrow? It's easy! The table inside (by the library door) has a sample card: please legibly enter date due (3 week loan), name and phone number on the card, and drop it in the box provided. Either stamp or handwrite your due date on the book or movie's "date due" slip. And...no, we do not charge overdue fines, but please be considerate of other readers who might be waiting, especially for newer titles. If you forget, you might get a friendly reminder in the mail!

The library is currently available to all attendees only, and not to the general public. It is unlocked on Sundays, and can be opened for you Monday through Thursday by the office staff.

If you have any questions, or would enjoy a guided tour, please feel free to ask any Library Committe Members: Frances Rotter, Faye Babb, Charlotte DeArmond, or Julie Williams. We'd all be proud to show you around this wonderful resource!!!

"BONHOEFFER"

This is not a title to be taken up lightly: at almost 600 pages, Eric Metaxas' biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer humbles, inspires, awes, and even intimidates the reader. The young pastor, prophet, spy, and ultimately martyr had such an extraordinary mind and heart for God...and at such an early age that I was reminded of Paul. His clarity of thought and purpose, zeal, and steadfastness are inspiring, educational, and humbling. In my limited knowledge, I'd venture to say that this world has not known another like him since his untimely execution ("For me, the beginning of life.") by the Nazis, just three weeks before the "official" end of World War II. His crimes? He participated, as a theologian and pastor, no less, in the Valkyrie plot to assassnate Hitler. Also, in Operation 7; an effort to smuggle Jews to safety in Switzerland.

To summarize his passionate belief in active Christianity, I'll close with his words: "Silence in the face of evil is evil itself: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."

In Him,
Frances Rotter

LIBRARY BOOK REVIEW

PARENTS, TEENS, AND SEX: THE BIG TALK BOOK
by Bruce Cook

Contrary to what you may think, research clearly identifies PARENTS as the single most influential factor affecting a teen's sexual decision making. Parental involvement is more critical today than ever, as teens become more vulnerable to at-risk behaviors! By the age of 18, 60 percent of teens will have had sexual intercourse, 25 percent of sexually active teens will have contracted a sexually transmitted disease, and by the age of 20, nearly one-third of sexually active teen girls have been pregnant! The BIG TALK BOOK shares 10 specific steps you can take to protect your teen's helath and future by empowering your teen to choose abstinence until marriage. The book includes interviews with 100 abstinent teens, who share specific insights on how their parents made a positive impact in their lives.

There are ten "Let's Talk About It" interactive discussions, designed for you and your teen to work through together, encourage open communication, and provide opportunities for relationship building as well as information sharing. The author, Bruce Cook, is president and co-founder, along wth his wife, Donna, of "CHOOSING THE BEST," a national leader in abstinence-focused sex education curriculum and training. He is considered a national expert on empowering teens to choose abstinence.

This excellent book as been donatd by Hope Pregnancy Center and you can find it in your "full spectrum" library.

3:16 • The Numbers of Hope • The message of 3:16
A twenty-six-word parade of hope: beginning with God, ending with life, and urging us to do the same.
Brief enough to write on a napkin or memorize in a moment,
yet solid enough to weather two thousand years of storms and questions.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
