“A man should be able to change a diaper, butcher a hog, drive anything, design a house, shoot a gun, write a poem, balance a checking account, build a wall, tend a wound, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve a problem, shovel manure, cook a good meal, fight well and die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” – paraphrased quote from author Robert A. Heinlein
Matthew 4:1-11 details Jesus being led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan after a 40-day fast. Jesus overcame all three temptations by quoting Scripture and relying on God’s Word, showing perfect obedience to the Father.

Prayer is a critical trait of being a Follower of Christ. Prayer keeps the believer near God, dependent on His strength, aligned with His will, honest about sin, grateful for grace, and steadfast in faith, obedience, peace, and worship. It’s not possible to follow Christ and do God’s Will in an effective without prayer and time in Scripture.

Hypokritēs (hoop-awk-ree-tase) Greek word associated with stage actors; people who wore a mask; a pretender. That is Christ’s diagnosis of religious showmanship. A hypocrite is not simply a weak Christian who struggles. A hypocrite is a performer. This is perhaps the biggest image problem Christianity has: Hypocrisy. Being fake pretenders.

Baptism is a God-given sign and command of the gospel, visibly portraying cleansing from sin, union with Christ and new life in Him. It does not save by the water itself, but it marks a believer’s public identification with Jesus and His church, sealing God’s promise to all who trust Christ. Additionally, it is a clear sign of obedience to a command from Jesus Christ and was a normal practice within the early Christian church.
Obedience to God is not always easy and that is why He gives us the Holy Spirit to empower us in our walk. But some things are very easy…like inviting someone to come with you to GCC!
Give the Holy Spirit a chance and you may find that at minimum, we have a new church family member and, God willing, perhaps even a new Believer on Christ!

In Isaiah 25:6, the "rich food full of marrow" and "well-refined wine" symbolize the abundant, eternal, and superior blessings of God's salvation and kingdom, marking the end of spiritual deprivation. This lavish imagery portrays a messianic banquet, representing ultimate joy, fellowship and victory over death for all nations.

The Passion of Christ refers to His sufferings, from the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane to his death by crucifixion. The term comes from the Latin “passio”, meaning "to suffer" or "endure".
There are many who love the pageantry of Jesus and the vocabulary of Jesus, but don not bow to the lordship of Jesus and serve Him. Palm branches in the hand are worthless if rebellion still sits on the throne of the heart.

We can do a good deed in a bad spirit. We can help the poor and still serve
ourselves. We can appear sacrificial while secretly feeding an idol called
human approval.
In Acts 5:1-11, Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, sold property but deceptively kept part of the proceeds while claiming to donate the full amount to the church.. Confronted by Peter about lying to the Holy Spirit, both died instantly, serving as a severe, immediate judgment against hypocrisy and greed within the early church.
